Urge Anglican Church to Remove Sex Change Surgery Prayer
On June 30, the Anglican Church of Canada announced the release of a new prayer entitled "A Blessing over the Process of Gender Transition," to be said over those who are undergoing an irreversible "gender transition."
Through publishing this "gender transition" affirming prayer, the Anglican Church has gone against core beliefs found in the Christian religion. It is stated in the Book of Genesis that: "God created mankind in His image; in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them" (Genesis Chapter 1, Verse 27).
All Christians hold the fundamental truth that God assigns one's gender and sex at the biological level. One can't call himself or herself a Christian if one genuinely believes God made a mistake in creating only men or women.
This prayer affirms the belief that God accidentally assigned an individual the wrong sex. Transgenderism and gender transitions clearly go against the stated Christian belief on gender and sex in The Bible.
Moreover, transgender beliefs also go against the fundamental scientific truth behind humanity existing only as male and female.
Ryan T. Anderson, the author of "When Harry Became Sally," explained in a Heritage Foundation blog post that "sex as a status–male or female–is a recognition of the organization of a body that can engage in sex as an act… It's the only way to make sense of the concepts of male and female at all."
Furthermore, Anderson explains that modern science has revealed that our DNA and bodily systems, down to the molecular level, fundamentally decide whether an individual is male or female.
A 2011 peer-reviewed study conducted in Sweden, a country that was one of the first to embrace fully and promote sex change surgeries, found "[p]ersons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behavior, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population."
Anderson also noted how this study found that 10 to 15 years after post-gender changing surgeries occur, a "transitioned" person is up to 20 times more likely to commit suicide than an individual who stays with and accepts his or her actual biological sex.
This trend has not diminished to this day. Two recent studies, one published on June 23, 2023, examined the transgender suicide rate in Denmark. The other one, posted on June 6, 2022, discusses the suicide rate among Canadian youth aged 15-17 by pro-LGBT activists.
Both studies found that transgender individuals still have significantly higher suicide attempts and suicide mortality when compared to men and women who accept their biologically assigned sex.
Please help us urge the Anglican Church of Canada to stop promoting this dangerous and life-threatening belief through prayer against fundamental religious and scientific truths that only males and females exist.
