Update: The bylaw update passed at the September 26 board meeting.

Our freedom of speech is under attack at the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB).

On June 20th, Trustee Brea Corbet (Mississauga Wards 9 & 10) requested staff to bring forward an updated bylaw for the DPCDSB, which would require parents and delegates at school board meetings to "adhere to Policy 9.01 Catholic Code of Conduct and any other related policies when delegating."

Policy 9.01 is filled with LGBT propaganda, and the board has placed itself under the Ontario Human Rights Code, which would restrict parents and delegates from speaking against the LGBT Pride flag, Gender Ideology, sexual orientation curriculum, and other LGBT-related occurrences in DPCDSB schools.

Such speech would considered "hate speech" and lead to legal action for "violating" the board’s “Catholic Code of Conduct”, which is subjected to the judicial rulings within the Ontario Human Rights Code.

This amendment will silence ALL SPEECH from parents and delegates concerned by the LGBT ideology being taught to their children.

Time is running out! We suspect Trustee Corbet's amendment will be voted on at the next DPCDSB meeting, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

Parents and delegates have the right to voice their concerns about the content their children are being taught.

This includes criticism of the LGBT ideology that's being forced upon children within the publicly funded school system.

The school board is made up of publicly elected officials. They should represent parents' interests and ensure they are respected.

By silencing parents’ and citizens’ concerns, the board's trustees are failing their duty to serve their constituents, infringing upon their rights to free speech and expression.

Furthermore, the DPCDSB is a "Catholic" school board, where the LGBT ideologies contradict Catholic Church teachings. The Catholic Church disavows the LGBT ideology, making it incompatible with Catholic doctrine, morals, beliefs, and values.

We need your help to ensure that parents and delegates to the DPCDSB are able to continue expressing their concerns to the school boards’ principals and publicly elected trustees.

If we do not act now, parents and citizens will be gagged from criticizing the content that the DPCDSB decides to implement in educating our children.

Please sign the petition to take a stand for the freedom of speech at the DPCDSB.

Protect Parents' & Delegates' Free Speech Rights

Dear Chair Luz del Rosario, Vice-Chair Thomas Thomas, and DPCSDB Trustees,

I am urgently calling upon you to vote against any proposed by-law revisions that would curtail, restrict, or censor parents' and delegates' lawful right to free speech.

These individuals are legally guaranteed the right to exercise their freedom of speech and expression against any and all things occurring within our publicly funded schools, including voicing concerns and opposition regarding LGBT-related curriculum, events, and content presented to impressionable children.

I am raising my concerns about free speech censorship because, on June 20th, Trustee Brea Corbet requested staff to bring forward an updated bylaw with potentially harmful implications for free speech.

This proposed amendment will limit parents and delegates from expressing concerns about the LGBT Pride flag, Gender Ideology, sexual orientation curriculum, and other LGBT-related occurrences within DPCDSB schools.

As publicly elected officials, you are tasked with representing the interests of parents and ensuring these interests are respected.

Silencing parents' concerns regarding LGBT ideologies is unconstitutional. Furthermore, the promotion of the LGBT ideology within Catholic schools goes against fundamental and core Catholic teachings and doctrine, including The Bible and The Catechism.

I urge you to stand up for the rights of parents and elector delegations by voting against all motions to limit the freedom of speech and expression.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
