Marlene’s private correspondence with her doctor was spread around the Richmond Family Medicine Clinic, and she was swiftly targeted as ‘transphobic’ and a troublemaker.

Not only did her care swiftly begin to suffer as opinionated staff who disliked her views refused to act professionally or even take messages to her primary care physician, but she was informed that the clinic would cut off all medical care just 12 days before the one-year anniversary of her cancer diagnosis.

Heedless of her ongoing need for meds to maintain her health after a liver transplant, or her upcoming double mastectomy to address her cancer later in August, she has been cast aside because of her view that women are women, and men are men.

The Richmond Family Medicine Clinic is part of a massive health network tied to the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), which includes the largest hospital in Oregon, as well as numerous other prominent hospitals and medical centers.

How long before the discrimination leads to a life-saving surgery being withheld from someone like Marlene?

People like you and me are being de-platformed every day for speaking the truth.

A wave of stories have broken about banks shutting down the accounts of citizens who dare to speak out.

And now, the rabid LGBT partisans are aiming to steal away your healthcare if you dare proclaim your views.

The actions of the Richmond Family Medicine Clinic are despicable. This is absolutely unconscionable.

The Chief Executives and the whole OHSU must be held accountable. Sign to demand that they reinstate Marlene’s health care with the utmost urgency.

To John Hunter, CEO of OHSU Health System and Executive Vice President of OHSU, and Danny Jacobs, President of OHSU,

I wish to express my utter disgust at the way in which you have treated Marlene Barbera, a long-time patient receiving ongoing care for her liver transplant and current breast cancer.

The OHSU prides itself on being a leading expert in health care and respecting the values of its patients, yet the organization has failed to understand the specific needs of women whose values conflict with the LGBT narrative. Instead of bringing care and healing, your callous actions have caused a serious deterioration in the mental health of one of your patients and put her at risk in a time of turmoil.

It is unthinkable and frightening that a leading healthcare provider has withdrawn vital care on the grounds that they do not share the patient’s beliefs and banned her from any of your clinics or immediate care facilities.

Marlene’s concerns about your facility’s partisan leanings relating to gender ideology do not, as your staff suggests, subject your staff to unacceptable distress or harassment. The clinic ought to understand the needs of vulnerable patients should always come first.

I demand that you immediately reinstate Marlene’s right to healthcare at your facilities, accommodate her request for a less partisan environment, and issue an apology and compensation.

Yours sincerely,
