Belgian Red Cross: Don't fear the Cross!
In Belgium, the Red Cross has ordered the local branches to remove the crucifixes which now adorn the premises of its local branches. The organisation claims to be doing so in the name of impartiality and neutrality...
But, many volunteers of the association have expressed their disagreement, within the local branches.
And, others, outside Belgium, like Hungary's Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, have voiced their concern and astonishment. Minister Szijjártó was quoted as saying: "Such measures must be regarded as attempts to do away with the continent’s civilisation and culture."
Indeed, by this gesture, the Belgian Red Cross, or at least those who run it, intends to assert - and, confirm - its secularism. And it is in the name of "neutrality" that they have demanded the removal of the crucifixes hanging from the walls of its local branches.
"Following an email received from the Provincial Committee of the Red Cross in Liège, to the twenty-eight Red Cross houses of the Province, we were asked to respect the principles of the Red Cross, that is to say, not to distinguish between religious belief or race," said André Rouffart, President of the Red Cross House of Verviers, who has received much disapproval regarding this decision.
Some Red Cross volunteers interviewed by RTL - a leading television channel in Belgium - have opposed this decision, drawing parallels, in particular, with the recent modification of some terminologies which, from their point of view, break with our traditions and our roots.
"Leave things as they are," retorts one of them. "We said 'Christmas Holidays' [in the past], now, 'Winter holidays,'; the 'Christmas Market' in Brussels has become the Winter Pleasures,' and, for some of the population, it is because of the Muslims that we have withdrawn the crucifixes in the Red Cross houses and, more particularly, in the Verviers houses, and that has absolutely nothing to do with it!"
In fact, "removing the crosses", whether in France with the statue of John Paul II, or in Belgium with the Red Cross, is, by no means, a result of Muslim intervention.
Rather, it is by the intervention of those who are afraid of the Cross...and, who are, for the most part, people of Christian background who have embraced the "religion" of human rights without God.
This is, in effect, secularism run amok.
Our shared culture and Christian heritage should be protected from this assault - both from without and within. We must not forget that Christianity does not come without the Cross. And, though the secular world may wish to receive Christian charity without the Cross, it is far less charitable - on the part of Christians - to provide material charity, without, at the same time, letting the recipient know what and Who inspires that charity.
As this issue (i.e., the deracination of Europe from its Christian heritage) affects the whole of Christian society in Europe and beyond, you are welcome to sign this petition even if you are not from Belgium.
Thank you for SIGNING and letting the authorities at the Belgian Red Cross know of your disapproval regarding their decision to remove crucifixes at their houses! They can surely reverse this ill-conceived decision and restore the crucifixes to their rightful places.

We must not make assumptions about offending other communities of people (like, Muslims - who, incidentally, did not ask you to abandon the Cross), and, in effect, projecting onto them our own politically correct ideas, or giving in, too easily, to the secular world.
