The CPC needs a new leader
Erin O'Toole Must Step Down
Erin O'Toole Must Step Down
On February 2nd, Conservative MPs will vote on whether Erin O’Toole will remain the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. If 50% of Conservative MPs vote against O’Toole, he’ll have to step down.
Despite O’Toole’s best efforts to suppress dissent, 35 Conservative MPs signed a letter demanding a leadership-review vote, which was presented on January 31st. The 2013 Reform Act forces any party to review its leadership if it is requested by more than 20% of its caucus - and these 35 MPs represent far more than 20% of the Conservative caucus.
As these MPs expressed in their letter, Erin O’Toole has consistently shown himself unable to represent conservative values.
Erin O’Toole became the leader of the Conservative Party by deceptively labelling himself as a ‘True Blue’ Conservative who believes in a ‘big-tent’ party. But ever since he’s won the leadership, he’s done everything he can to try to remake the Conservative Party into yet another left-wing party.
For example, despite claiming to support a big-tent party with diverse opinions, it was not long before he kicked out Derek Sloan, a solidly pro-life and pro-family MP.
Erin O’Toole also completely changed his opinion on conscience rights between the leadership race and the election. He went from supporting the conscience rights of medical professionals to refuse to participate in euthanasia to stating that he thought pro-life doctors should be forced to provide effective referrals to patients who seek euthanasia and abortion.
Erin O’Toole’s flip-flopped on so many other vital issues, such as gun rights, defunding the CBC, and carbon taxes. Ironically, his most consistent stances have been in favour of left-wing causes, such as his support of the barbaric act of sex-selective abortion.
Conservatives in Canada deserve a leader who can confidently express genuine conservative beliefs. We need a leader who can consistently stand for life, family, and freedom. Erin O’Toole has made it clear that he is not the man for the job.
Even if over 50% of the caucus votes to keep Erin O’Toole as leader, there will still be a large minority of the caucus who will not be in support of him. The reality is this: Erin O’Toole will be unable to convince voters in the next election that he is able to lead if even only 30% of his caucus does not believe he is fit to lead.
Regardless of the outcome of this vote, Erin O’Toole must step down as the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. His vision of a left-wing Conservative movement cannot win elections and has left devoted conservatives feeling alienated.
Sign this petition to tell Erin O’Toole that you do not support him being the leader of the Conservative Party and that you want him to step down.
Additionally, if Erin O’Toole wins this vote and tries to stay on as leader, we will mail these signatures to his office to show him that grassroots conservatives do not support him.
