On Tuesday, February 12th, TBS premiered a new comedy series called Miracle Workers. The show is based on the book What In God’s Name by Simon Rich. Rich is also the showrunner for Miracle Workers.

Miracle Workers follows “God,” played by Steve Buscemi. Buscemi's crude, unkempt "God" oversees operations at Heaven Inc., a company of “miracle workers” or angels that do his bidding and manipulate events on Earth.

In Miracle Workers, “God” is seen swearing, drinking beer, eating snacks, and donning a white undershirt and sweatpants in his luxurious penthouse that features a baby grand piano and a butler. He’s an egotistical narcissist, and his outlook towards humanity is pessimistic at best. In trailers, he proclaims “it’s way too late to fix Earth.”

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Simon Rich, the show's creatorexplained that his “God” was inspired by Genesis. Rich explains, “One of his first [commands in Book of Genesis] is, ‘You can’t have any gods but me'… He’s this deeply insecure guy, and you work backward from that; this guy is desperate for people to sacrifice rams to him in a specific way.”

The pilot episode is called “2 Weeks.” In the episode, “God” decides he’s going to blow up Earth because there’s no hope for humanity. Feeling unsettled by this, a character named Eliza challenges him. She bets him that if she can answer one of the “impossible prayers,” he can’t blow up Earth. He agrees, and she agrees that if he wins she will be forced to eat a worm in front of her coworkers.

Help MovieGuide and CitizenGO tell TBS that this show is incredibly offensive. As long as TBS airs a program that mocks God, it will not be a channel you select.

Sign this petition to send a letter directly to TBS's executives,  Kevin Reilly, Jennifer Kim, and Brett Weitz, asking them to cancel Miracle Workers.

Cancel "Miracle Workers"

Dear TBS,

I was very disturbed to hear about your new comedy "Miracle Workers." This series mocks the Christian religion and the God of the Bible. Series creator Simon Rich made offensive comments in an interview with Vanity Fair, calling the God of the Bible a “deeply insecure guy.” This is incredibly offensive to the billions of religious individuals who worship the God of the Bible. I expected better from TBS.

I respectfully ask you pull this offensive TV show. Please replace it with content that is uplifting and does not mock the deeply held religious beliefs of your consumers.
