Tell the UN: Protecting the life of the unborn is not torture
This June, the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva will discuss the "Report of the Working Group on the issue of discrimination against women in law and in practice."
Although the document is appealing in some ways - it attempts to eliminate female genital mutilation, properly treat menopause and female aging, combat the feminization of poverty, and ensure proper maternal care in childbirth and postpartum - it also has several significant flaws, such as proposing the legalization of prostitution.
But above all, the document focuses on abortion. It seeks to legalize abortion, permit uncontrolled access to contraception (including emergency abortive contraception), and to indoctrinate women and children on sexual and reproductive “rights.”
A key point in the document outrageously claims that outlawing abortion is typical of a "patriarchal" culture, violates the dignity of women, threatens their health and life, and can be described as "torture".
The document states: “The Committee against Torture and the Human Rights Committee have determined that, in some cases, being forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term amounts to cruel and inhuman treatment.”
The document proposes to eliminate all "restrictions" on abortion, penalties for those who practice them, bans on access to information, conscientious objection without alternatives, requirements for third party consent (husband, parents, judge, etc), mandatory periods of reflection, and limits on public insurance coverage. In other words, the document seeks to ensure unfettered access to abortion without any controls or limitations.
Sexual and reproductive health education is also proposed in the document. The curriculum should be based on science, they say, away from "taboos" and “religious stereotypes” ...
Of course, they must admit that no contraceptive is 100% effective, so it is necessary to legalize abortion "for women to have control over their own body."
Write now to the ambassadors of the UN Human Rights Council to tell them what you think. Defending the life of the unborn is not a form of torture.

Dear UN Human Rights Council Ambassadors,
I read with concern the April 2016 report of the Working Group on Discrimination against Women.
This document openly lobbies for the legalization of abortion and claims that opposition to abortion is "instrumentalization and politicization of the woman's body," a "violation of the human rights of women," and even "torture".
Protecting human life is the first duty of humanity, and therefore the first duty of national and international bodies.
Article 6.5 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights states:
"[The] Sentence of death shall not be imposed for crimes committed by persons below eighteen years of age and shall not be carried out on pregnant women."
Furthermore, the preamble of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child states: “the child, by reason of his physical and mental immaturity, needs special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth"
I ask you to reject the text of this document which is not only contrary to the agreements already signed, but is extremely far from social reality in general and the real needs of women in particular.
