Have you ever thought that the erosion of free expression is limited to repressive regimes? Think again. Shockingly, it is rampant even in the West.

A case that exemplifies this deeply troubling trend is that of Päivi Räsänen, a grandmother, medical doctor, and former member of Finland's Parliament.

Can you imagine facing criminal charges and a trial for simply expressing your beliefs? This is the reality Päivi finds herself in today, and it is a direct attack on Christian’s fundamental right to free speech and expression.

Päivi's determination is unyielding as she vows to fight this battle all the way to the highest legal levels if necessary.

This blatant attack on her right to free speech and expression is unacceptable.

With just a little time left before the trial begins on August 31st, we must stand together in unwavering support of Päivi and join the fight against the erosion of our precious faith.

We can’t let persecution silence the truth.

Päivi's case is not only unjust but sets a dangerous precedent for the future of Christian rights to free speech, not only in Finland but throughout the European Union and beyond.

Once again, we are called upon to protect our faith against a compulsory ideology with no room for dissent, particularly around topics like gender and LGBT. If you dare to disagree, you face personal and professional ruin.

The stakes are high. If Päivi loses her trial, it could have a ripple effect across the European Union, jeopardizing the fabric of free society itself. Our right to express our beliefs and challenge dominant ideologies is under threat.

But there is hope. Päivi is not alone, and we have the power to make a difference. The case could still be dropped before reaching the Supreme Court, but we need your voice to raise our collective strength and bring about change.

Time is of the essence. Sign our petition today and urge the Prosecutor General to reconsider this baseless persecution.

Voicing Christian beliefs is not a crime

Prosecutor General,

I am writing to you as a citizen deeply concerned about the erosion of fundamental democratic rights and freedoms in Finland, a country often hailed for its commitment to liberal values and human rights.

I am gravely troubled by the case of Päivi Räsänen, a Finnish Member of Parliament currently facing three "hate speech" criminal charges. What worries me even more is that these charges have been brought against her because of her public expression of her Christian beliefs.

If expressing religious beliefs publicly can lead to criminal charges, it effectively transforms faith into a punishable offense and stifles open public dialogue.

Freedom of speech and religion are fundamental human rights, enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights articles 18 and 19, and in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union article 11. These rights include the ability to express one’s beliefs and practice them without fear of reprisal.

For the sake of democratic values, freedom of speech, and religious liberty, I urge you to take a stand. Drop the charges against Päivi Räsänen and uphold the rights of all citizens to express their beliefs freely.
